Addressing the Freida McFadden slander 

If you do a Google search for this author, you’ll see her books, but you’ll also see discussion on forums debating whether or not this author has copied other authors and also saying that they are potentially using AI in their books.  

If you’re going to make a claim that author’s potential using AI, you have to back that up with some sort of proof, you can’t just make that type of a serious claim.  

If you’re also gonna claim that someone’s directly copying and rip off other books, I I’m gonna punch you in the face.. virtually.

Genres exist as a reason because you’re taking the same tropes and rearranging them over and over again 

If you’ve ever heard the saying that all art is either the same or a completely refreshed thing 

This to me has just always seemed like unfounded criticism 

Freida McFadden only works as a doctor part time.

Her first books were medical humorous books  and as she started to read more thrillers, she threw her hat in the ringer and started writing those for fun as well

So yes, a reader is likely to take inspiration from the art. They’ve consumed in order to create better art that’s how you get inspiration 

It’s much better than these people getting inspiration from literally ChatGPT or just copying the top-selling books over and over again which I don’t see a lot of criticism for.

You don’t see people saying this about Romantasy books done over and over again and not as much at least. 

Freida not only has a backlog just because she enjoys writing, Half of the books that are really popular from her right now her from several years ago.

If you go to net galley currently and look at the most requested thriller, it’s her book with a new cover. I know because I read the book in 2021. 

I have emailed this author back-and-forth so I know that they are genuinely cool human. I was part of their Facebook group as well before I deleted Meta. 

Freida is literally just a doctor and a mom who likes to enjoy Internet memes, has a good sense of humor, and enjoys writing. 

To me, we need so many more of those authors and the fact that she faces any scrutiny at all is ridiculous to me because you don’t see this type of scrutiny pushed towards James Patterson. James Patterson actually has ghost riders where he’s not even writing his own books anymore..

Freida McFadden’s books are not meant to be taken as a seriously scary horror book.

She writes family friendly, over-the-top fun thrillers that make you giggle but also have a good plot twists. I think the reason she’s done so well is because they’re humorous easy to read creative fun and she doesn’t trauma dump or overly make her book so dark that they become really sad. 

I think readers forget that there are a lot of different types of expectations and subgenre as within the mystery thriller and horror, umbrella genre that exists, and that not every thriller is meant to keep you up at night in fact, I would consider that to be more of a horror book . I think a lot of Freida’s criticism comes from a lack of understanding of her writing and her books.. 

She’s just a meme trying to write thrillers and she does not take herself too seriously and she just wants to have fun . She’s also an incredibly humble author, which I think is unique because a lot of authors once they’ve been officially discovered they are no longer cool. 

I remember in 2021 reading her thrillers and wondering why they weren’t higher on the charts so the fact that I’ve been rooting for this author success and then to see them be at the top makes me so extremely happy I can’t even describe .

I have an entire shelf dedicated to her books because I love them so much and they’ve become comfort thrillers .

So if anyone wants to talk shit about Freida they’ll have to get through me first!
